Student dropout continues to be a significant challenge in higher education. Studies have shown that it has economic impacts on institutions. However, the cost associated with student needs better understood. This research focuses first-year dropouts 51 Chilean universities, intending analyze costs generated by all their careers, allowing project an average horizon resources would no longer received as result of dropouts. It is descriptive documentary analysis technique. Among most outstanding results, institutions lose around USD 1,169,853,410 and private universities are ones register university On other hand, statistically proven for those number enrollments, will higher.
